CoOPDM Research Report 2010 – “From Exploration to Direction”: The CoOPDM engaged a researcher to synthesize the ideas and information presented at the Symposium on Prescription Drug Misuse and our engagement efforts with the Boyle McCauley and Blood Tribe communities. This report summarizes all of the data and feedback presented into seven themes that touch on challenges, opportunities and required next steps on the growing issue of prescription drug misuse in Alberta and elsewhere.
CoOPDM Response to “From Exploration to Direction” Research Report: The CoOPDM felt it was important to respond to the feedback and ideas it received during the Symposium on Prescription Drug Misuse and our community efforts, which was synthesized into the research report found above. This document outlines the CoOPDM’s response to the report, “From Exploration to Direction” and details what the CoOPDM and other organizations and governments need to do to address the misuse of prescription drugs.
Rapid Assessment of Prescription Drug Misuse in Alberta: The CoOPDM contracted The Addiction and Mental Health Research Laboratory at the University of Alberta to conduct a study into the issue of prescription drug misuse in Alberta. The resulting document provides recent data on the scope of the issue, details on the types of data that could facilitate a province-wide assessment and monitoring strategy, and input on a national model for assessment and monitoring of prescription drug misuse.
Summary Report on CoOPDM Focus Groups on Prescription Drug Misuse in the Boyle McCauley Community in Edmonton, Alberta: In September and October 2009, the CoOPDM engaged key stakeholders in the inner-city, Edmonton neighbourhood of Boyle McCauley to learn more about perceptions on the causes, challenges and solutions to prescription drug misuse. Summaries of the focus groups with pharmacists, physicians, law enforcement, addiction/treatment/service providers and those who had personal experience with prescription drug misuse are provided.
